Tails of a Reluctant Mermaid

...So I had this great idea, the piece turned out wonderfully, but the girl that inspired the project thought it was too romantic of a notion for our relationship and it blew up in my face.

...but I was just being an artist.

We work together and talk and stuff, so I had lots of opportunity to talk to her face to face and look into her eyes. She's a classic beauty with striking blue eyes.

The image just came to me one night, just like you see above here. When I told her about it, and then showed it to her, she didn't say anything!

...I knew I was in trouble.

What's cool about this project is I could have sat her down in a room with nine more artist, and all ten of us would walk out of there with a piece quite different from each other ~ each with It's own voice.
Well, she eventually thanked me for it and told me she liked it.  In a days or two afterwards I got the "We're just friends" talk, and then she stopped talking to me altogether. Oh well.

In the end, I got a really cool piece even if I did piss off my muse.

The Bread Art Project

Stumbled onto this web site for the art. It's a great cause!

"Your participation in the Bread Art Project will help the more than 17 million children in America who struggle with hunger. For every approved submission, the Grain Foods Foundation will donate $1 to Share Our Strength®*, a national nonprofit committed to ending childhood hunger in America by connecting children with the nutritious food they need to lead healthy, active lives."

“What if?”

Sitting staring off into space has its advantages sometimes! I was doing just that when I remembered I had seen some movie recently with members of Parliament in it. The white powder wigs piqued my curiosity.

“What if?” I said to myself.

What if instead of the white curls, they were white dreads? And what if instead of a wig, it was a full mask? And what if they looked like those eggs with jewels on them;  I forget what you call them?

Oh what the Hell let’s put the men and women in red hi-heels
(smiling to myself at this point).

That’s pretty much how I gave birth to this idea.

Angels with Wings on Their Heels

So this marks a return of sorts –

I hit an artistic wall after the playing card project and haven’t felt like doing anything. It is still kind of concerning, because I’m wondering if I’m out of the woods yet. This picture has been a long time coming, probably clear back to March.

Ideas pop into my head and I think, “That would be cool to do” – then I go about my day. This idea kept drawing it’s self over and over though. I ended up in the hospital again sometime in October and the first thing I drew when I got in there was this “Angels with Wings on Their Heels”
It’s a representation of how quickly some things come and go. I could tell you all the literal things that have come and gone, but it won’t help you enjoy the piece anymore. I rather you just notice she hasn’t got any other wings except the ones on her heels, not your conventional angel! Enjoy!
